Kendal's First email from the MTC

Guess what I got in the mail today?
Nope. Not letters. (dearelder.com is free by the way. *cough cough*)
I got my flightplan.
Yep.
You read that right.
Let me start at the beginning.
When we got into class on Wednesday our teacher told us that we were in
the advanced language class.
Usually that means that the missionaries aren't really taught any
language, they are just taught how to teach, and we get to figure out the
language on our own.
Yipee!
BUT, they have 3-4 weeks.
Not us.
We leave for Berlin on the 17th.
OF FEBRUARY.
Apparantly there were a bunch of missionaries called to Berlin that
were super rad at German, so we have THE first entire German district that is
fast-tracked. In the history of ever.
ALSO,
There are 5 companionships of sisters in the district.
There are 2 companionships of elders.
Represent, Sisters!!! What what!
Anywho, so my flightplan is as follows:
Next sunday morning I report to the travel desk at 8:30, we go to the
airport directly after that, and our flight takes off for Amsterdam at 11:01
am.
Since we are basically a first-time ginuea pig experiment, we didn''t
have companions when we got into the MTC. We actually just barely were assigned
last night at our branch meeting.
And I got the coolest sister in the whole district.
Sister Sykes.
With a name like that, you''d bet she would be flippin awesome!
It was weird because I''d only been here for a day and a half but
during that time I literally felt like I couldn''t think/breathe/function. I
had no idea where I was going, what I was doing, or what was being taught...
(Its a good thing I''ve been taking EXTENSIVE notes. Seriously. I would not
remember anything!) But as soon as our district was organized, with the DLs,
our companionships, ZLs, senior/junior companions, I felt SO much better!
You know me. I am an organized
mess. I mean, take a look at my room. Its messy, but I know where everything
is.
However, this was SUCH a relief to be fully organized!
I know it''s only been basically 2 days, but I honestly can testify of
the wonderful workings of organization.
We now have a District Leader to report to (Elder Krieger... Which
means "warrior" in German. So he is literally Elder Warrior. And he
is precious.) and everything has gone SO much more smoothly! I can''t say I
love it here quite yet, but I am getting to like it a LOT. Especially my
district.
I love my district.
That much I do know right now!
Seriously, when they told us who we were assigned to be companions
with, I was overwhelmed with the love I had for Sister Sykes! I''ve heard
missionaries say that before, but to have experienced it, is something totally
different.
We were able to go to the temple today and that was a wonderful
experience!
It was really neat to be able to go with my district.
I do want to tell you something though...
I thought it was impossible to gain 15 pounds in 3 days......
Well.....
This is why I am attaching no pictures.
You DEFINITELY do not want to see me this way.
Okay. I''m kidding. I''ve been good! Promise!
The MTC is so great though. I''ve been to bed the last two nights
feeling totally and completely awake because of everything I''ve learned
running through my head all day.
Then I wake up in the morning feeling like I''ve been hit by an
18-wheeler....
And I get to do it all over again! Haha
It seriously is the best though. Anyway, Ich liebe dich!!!!
You can feel the spirit here. It''s amazing. In the opening devotional
thing we had on Wednesday night, we sang "Army of Helaman'' but instead of
the line that says ''and we will be the Lord''s missionaries, to bring the
world His truth'', we sang "and we ARE NOW the Lord''s missionaries to
bring the world His truth.''
Holy. We had close to 750
missionaries that came in the same day I did, and we couldn''t fit them in one
room, so we had to split them... But 325 missionaries in EACH room singing that
part of the song was overwhelming.
I LOVE this work! Already!
I am SO excited to get out there (even if I just got HERE... haha)
People deserve to have what we have. I am so extremely happy and I KNOW
that the gospel is true!
I still can''t believe I''m here. Meine Lieblinge, I must go.
Until next week!

Oh, P.S. If you want to send packages, better send them SOON, cause in 9 days.... WE GONE.
